The Agro-Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) and the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement and Action (MoA) for the development, financing, and support of de-risked and optimized agribusiness projects.
The MoA which was jointly signed during the APPEALS Project 3rd Implementation Support Mission in Calabar is a mutual undertaking in line with the Project Development Objective of the APPEALS of enhancing agricultural productivity of Small and Medium-scale farmers and improving Value Addition along the priority Value Chains of cassava, cashew, rice, poultry, aquaculture, cocoa, wheat, tomato, maize, ginger and dairy across the participating states.
In his remarks during the signing ceremony, the National Project Coordinator of the APPEALS Project, Dr Amin Mohammed Babandi expressed optimism that the mutual agreement would help advance the Project on its path to achieving its objectives and delivering the target results.
Managing Director/CEO of NIRSAL, Mr. Aliyu Abdulhameed on his part assured that NIRSAL was delighted to partner with the APPEALS in attaining its Development Objective, stating that the proposed areas of collaboration would include the deployment of “technologies towards the formation of Agro-Geo-Cooperatives for selected commodity value chains through geospatial mapping, soil suitability tests, BVN enrolment for farmers, in addition to the creation of Virtual Asset Titles (VAsT), the establishment of field governance structures, and training of farmers on Good Agronomic Practices (GAP), team dynamics and social engineering.”.
Sequel to this landmark Agreement signing, the Kaduna State Coordination Office of the APPEALS Project is partnering with NIRSAL for agribusiness de-risking and financial linkages in the implementation of the APPEALS Project in the state. #APPEALSng
How can I get involved in the program
The greatness of Nigeria future depends on Agriculture. Thank God for APPEALS Project driving Nigeria into a great future.
we the farmers are anticipating for urgent intervention of APPEALS especially this planting season to enable us improve our production.
This is a remarkable step taken to ensure the achievement of APPEAL PROJECT in Nigeria. Nevertheless, the credibility of NIRSAL should be meticulously checked and/or a team of trustworthy inspectors should be set up to regularly scrutinize or monitor the level of compliance of any partner if APPEAL PROJECT’s objectives would finally be realized.
Humbly submitted.
